Great post Devon,
I appreciate the advice, especially about not editing while I write. Sometimes I just get to critical and don't get much done.
Thanks

That's great advice. My days don't always start out the same, so I get bogged down in other stuff (or have a paying deadline :-) but I will try to incorporate some variant of this advice. I do love keeping myself accountable via Twitter - it's a great tool! Marla Beck at http://www.TheRelaxedWriter.com has a post about "bookending' with Twitter and uses the hashtag #bkend which I think is a great idea. Thanks again! Louise aka @ThoughtsHappen

Wow. Thank you. I want to write, I want to become an author so much, but I can't seem to just write. Now I am definantly going to use your advice.

Devon,

Great advice. For me though, I can't do anything until I get my morning coffee, do my physical workout, and have breakfast. Then my muse starts and sometimes it does not stop until someone forces me (like cooking dinner or picking up the children from school.)

Great post Devon. I'm a procrastinator and so have no problems getting assignments for others done, but projects I want to do, like my novel? I have it all planned out but just put off the actual writing. I'll definitely use some of these tips.

Even with a contract, your novel could be either dumped or given so little support it sinks without a trace. You have to approach every project with the confidence that it will find its successful home SOMEWHERE down the line, and get out of your own way, or you'll never get material out the door.

You can't wait for other people to reinforce your work. You have to build the confidence to put it out there.

EVERYTHING pays off, if you're willing to treat the project professionally and market it thoroughly.

EVERYTHING of mine sells -- eventually. Some projects take longer than others, that's all.

You just have to approach all projects with the same professionalism. Then, they pay off more quickly.
