This is a guest post by Jacob E. Dawson. I hope you decide to look into some of these amazing motivational authors and find out what success would take for you.
There are times in your life where everything seems to line-up for you, where serendipity and fortune fall in your favor and achieving your dreams is only a few steps away.
For some people this state is easy to find; they’ve always felt destined to succeed and won’t let anything get in their way. For others, however, this point in life seems so far away as to be mere fantasy, and at times impossible to reach.
That’s where motivational speakers come into play – these are the people that can inspire you to action with their very voices; with their exciting presence and carefully chosen words.
If you’re at the point in your life where your dreams are within reach, then best of luck to you, but if you’re looking for a little extra help – you’ve come to the right place because below you’ll learn about 7 motivational speakers that will change your life.
1. Jim Rohn
Famous for his rags-to-riches journey, avuncular story-telling style, and deep passion for self-improvement, Jim Rohn was undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest motivational speakers, inspiring millions of people across the globe with his unique mix of practical advice and life-changing material.
Rohn’s advice is often pragmatic and immediately applicable, and focuses on the importance of hard-work, dedication and healthy living.
Although he passed away in 2009, his advice has been collected from over 40 years of motivational speaking to be passed on for generations to come.
Memorable Quote: “Success is what you attract by the person you become”
2. T. Harv Eker
T. Harv Eker wrote the best-selling book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind,” inspiring millions of people to understand the path to financial freedom. In his public seminars he is known for a no-nonsense style, espousing the view that ‘talk is cheap’ and that focused, determined action is the secret to success.
Like most of the speakers on this list, Eker has gone through a rags-to-riches journey (more than once!), which has inspired him to fully understand the processes by which successful people achieve their goals.
He also believes that everyone has an internal ‘financial blueprint’ that keeps them at a certain level of success, but which can be overwritten to gain higher levels of success.
Memorable Quote: “You can be kind, loving, spiritual, balanced and really RICH!”
3. Tony Robbins
A protégé of Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins is known the world over for his electrifying persona, limitless positivity and great personal touch (not to mention his 6-foot-7-inch frame).
Robbins has given energetic live performances to millions of people around the world, released best-selling books and audiotapes, and also provides guidance to many of the world’s celebrities and business-people.
A proponent of neuro-linguistic programming techniques, Tony Robbins excels in teaching peak-performance and also in helping people to overcome their fears.
Memorable Quote: “It is your decisions, and not your conditions, that determine your destiny”
4. Jack Canfield
Jack Canfield co-wrote a little book series called “Chicken Soup for the Soul” – a self-help series that has over 110 million copies in print in over 40 languages.
Before the phenomenal success of ‘Chicken Soup’, Canfield worked as teacher and psychotherapist specializing in transformational learning and self-esteem building.
His speaking style is simple, to-the-point and practical, and his focus on goal-setting and achievement is both informative and inspiring.
More recently, Canfield has been inspiring people to achieve success with ‘The Success Principles’, a practical guide that takes readers and listeners through a program that covers the journey from dream to success.
Memorable Quote: “Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty”
5. Brian Tracy
After traveling the world during his youth and working as a laborer in more than 80 countries, Canadian-born Brian Tracy set himself a mission in life to help people achieve their personal and professional goals through pragmatic advice, the study of successful habits and solid financial education.
With a focus on business and sales training alongside regular goal-setting and personal development, his style is all about teaching people the facts about achieving success. His speaking style is akin to ‘tough love’ – he preaches hard work and dedication as the pillars of success.
Memorable Quote: “If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, then it’s moving you away from your goals”
6. Zig Ziglar
Born in Alabama, as one of 12 children, Zig Ziglar served in WWII before working in sales for a number of companies.
After rising to prominence in the business world, Ziglar began motivational teaching, mixing practical advice and self-improvement with an emphasis on Christian values.
His speaking style is akin to an enthusiastic Southern preacher, and through his seminars and speaking appearances he has helped people around the world take control of their lives for over 40 years.
In addition to his motivational speaking, Ziglar has released a number of best-selling audiotapes and books.
Memorable Quote: “If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere”
7. Les Brown
Leslie “Les” Brown has been a politician, a radio disk jockey, a TV host and a motivational speaker and writer. His path to success took him from the slums of Miami, to being declared “educably mentally retarded” in school, through to radio success and a career in politics as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives.
His talks are highly motivational due to his triumph despite difficult experiences, and his style has an air of earnestness and authenticity that crowds find inspiring. He’s widely considered one of the best motivational speakers in the world, and has also written numerous self-help titles.
Memorable Quote: “If you take responsibility for yourself you will develop a hunger to accomplish your dreams”
The speakers mentioned above are just some of the great motivational speakers and self-help gurus that have inspired people around the world to take control of their lives and achieve success.

This is an awesome list. I first heard Jack Canfield adn T. Harv Elker speak on an audio book about the Secret. Such a game changer for me. Jack Canfield’s The Success Principles is one of the best books I have ever read.
Brian Tracy is my hands down favorite–especially Eat that Frog & Goals! He has an audio book on Personal Success that is excellent. He also has a quiet way of speaking that I really like.
I would also recommend Marc Allen. He wrote a book called The Millionaire Course that is excellent. He’s a great storyteller and loves to talk about the lazy way to success (though I am not sure how lazy he really is!)
Great list. I can’t wait to check out the ones that I am not familiar with.
